“But to you who are listening I say love your enemies and do good to those who hate you”.
- Luke 6:27
On April 20, 2017; Thursday night, we were at Al Safa building with Chapter B2 members and leaders. It was my first service in SFC teaching and I was assigned to handle registration. We experienced a memorable teaching led by Bro. Jervy and Sis Verna.
The Bible verse which I took is about loving your enemies, (Mark 12:31) says “Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” It reminds me of my experience 4 years ago with my best friend. How we forgive and love each other again, how we accept the truth about ourselves because of insecurity, jealousy and disappointment. Praying for someone is powerful because it leads to forgiveness.
I salute Sis Ellen, Sis Kath, Sis Monique and Sis Thal who shared their testimonies that day. How they were able to surpass difficult experiences in life made me realize how really good our God is, for making all impossible things possible. My take away was to forgive and pray to those who hurt us is the mark of a true Christian. I can relate with what Sis Ellen had shared about humility, and how to be humble in the workplace despite of having a boss’ that doesn't treat you very well i.e. yelling at you in front of colleagues. I like what she said, “There is someone, something and somewhere that make us feel good all the time and there is always, new day, new sunshine and sunset to look forward”. My prayer is to have an opportunity to pray one on one with my boss and being able to express my true feelings. I think it will help me feel better and gain confidence to work with my boss again.
As an SFC, loving our family, friends, workmates, strangers and especially our enemies and doing good things to them is the sign of a true Christian.
I would like to end with this Bible verse to remind us how God loves us and sacrificed for us to forgive our sins. “And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses”. (Mark 11:25)
May God be praised
