Speaker's Training By Sis Annie Calixto

But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”
- Exodus 4:10-12

I’ve join the SFC community for 2 years now as a blessed member and 5 months as a Household leader. I still remember I was hesitant to take the responsibility but it actually turns out as a PRIVILEDGE. I’m exposed to more number of HH prayer meetings, trainings and empowerment programs of the community. It is a priviledge to understand / discover our purpose of existence and the real value of a deeper relationship with our Father in Heaven (where my biological father on earth is 1 year happily residing too). Last 15th of May 2017, another opportunity of attending the Speaker’s Training through Tito Monching Jimenez ‘s mouthpiece. Good speakers are actually made if we first allow the Holy Spirit to overtake us; the willingness to be used as a channel of God’s message; to purify one’s heart to radiate; to receive wisdom to be delivered and accountability to walk the talk.

As a speaker, we are not expected just to talk about the topic but to make sure that proper communication with the audience is obtained, felt and to unify their hearts and minds as one. The training is quite technical and I’ve wanted to share it in writing as complete and as actual as it is during the session.

We’ve learned that the elements for effective public speaking should use speaker’s own style, not by reading or memorizing the talk outline but by interaction with the audience as conversational. There are cases of Stage Fright and it can be handle through solemn prayer and the importance of pray-over comes in.  There is aware-accept-act approach and the remedies can be applied according to speaker’s symptoms. In terms of speechlessness, speaker should warm up prior to the talk; take a deep relaxing breath or series of breath and focus on familiar faces around. In terms of headache attacked, take some food before the talk then aspirin. In terms of shaky muscles, identify which muscle is shaking and then shake it off while walking around and stretching. In case of excessive sweating, have a handkerchief available, have comfortable attire and have a glass of water ready.

Prior to the service of being called as a speaker and saying Yes to the Lord, it is just right that one should be prepared & proper planning are expected. We need to do our part while God is molding us of true humility while doing His work. The fear of the Lord is the healthy kind of fear of submission to God. Pray and offer our efforts to Him alone.

Planning includes the studying and internalizing the expanded outline of the talk, seeking inputs from experienced leaders and analyzing the audience’s category such age bracket, jotting down examples that are timely applicable, using simple and not complex points and language.

Moving on to practicing the talk outline, more practice will result to better delivery. Strive for conversational tone by using the first person (speaker’s Christian perspective) and not the third person (other group/person’s point of view) and envision the audience’s response. Practice can be done by warming up mentally, by speaking and standing draft through mirror, recording or live audience  . Dress rehearsal can be done as well  .

Actual delivery of the talk consists of verbal and non-verbal delivery. An effective speaker shows enthusiasm, draws empathy, control of voice, pitch and knows when to pause, the speaking rate, pronouncing of words correctly and selecting words carefully. A smile increases trust, aside from giving a confident image. Eye contact enhances perception of sincerity. Using gestures adds emphasis to the points delivered. Speakers should watch out of own mannerism and should not inject humor if it is unchristian.

On the day, arrive early to familiarize with the venue, stay confident with the Lord and greet the day with anticipation, minimize unrelated pre-talk activities and get ready for the session itself. Wearing favorite clothes will add feeling of confident with comfortable SFC ID. Pray and offer efforts to God and everything will run smoothly.

After the training, we did a dry run as speakers for the upcoming CLP Talk topics and everyone radiates amazingly each God-given wisdom, sharing with humility. Each of us, received comments, good points, some corrections and suggestions for improvement.  It was indeed a worth attending training and amazing experience.  It is the manifestation of equipping one’s self on God’s call for service in the near future.  Our tongues were created to proclaim and share the good news, make it happen! May the Holy Spirit be with us and remain with us always.

May our Almighty Lord be praised forever and ever!  Amen.

When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come
- John 16:13.

My CLP Experience Christian Life Program: Unbox Your Faith By Bro Joseph Fruto

“A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stamp, a god-shaped life is a flourishing tree”  -Proverbs 11:28   We are in the world where people give so much avidness to wealth, technology, trend, etc. At some point we forget to nourish our spiritual need. That is to live life with love, humility and gratitude. It may sound impossible to put into action but yes, it is possible with a great faith to God we can outshine the good and surmount the greatest challenge of being Christian and live life with meaning. Before I was invited to join the Christian Life Program (CLP), I know that there is God and I believe in Him. From a family that doesn’t religiously go to church we don’t see it as a duty of being a Christian. So long I don’t do detrimental things I am therefore a good Christian. At the age of 21 I tried my luck abroad, I worked in Saudi hoping to speed up my career and help my family. Being away was a struggle and homesickness was the enemy I fought each ...

Pray Over Workshop By Sis. Maricar Mandani

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.-Romans 8:26-27 How do we pray and how do we pray for others effectively? Most of us would like to pray for others, but to be honest we don't know how and what to pray. We are often filled with good intentions but without enough knowledge to utter, we tend to use the same phrases over and over or we fall into patterns, or sometimes we simply are not good in expressing with words. As part of our preparation for our CLP Talk 9- Receiving the power of the Holy Spirit- the much awaited session for every CLP. We had a PRAY OVER WORKSHOP, held last August 15, 2017. The teaching was led by Tita Lourdes, here we experienced and practiced a pray over session. Learned how to ...
