“A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stamp, a god-shaped life is a flourishing tree”
-Proverbs 11:28
We are in the world where people give so much avidness to wealth, technology, trend, etc. At some point we forget to nourish our spiritual need. That is to live life with love, humility and gratitude. It may sound impossible to put into action but yes, it is possible with a great faith to God we can outshine the good and surmount the greatest challenge of being Christian and live life with meaning.
Before I was invited to join the Christian Life Program (CLP), I know that there is God and I believe in Him. From a family that doesn’t religiously go to church we don’t see it as a duty of being a Christian. So long I don’t do detrimental things I am therefore a good Christian. At the age of 21 I tried my luck abroad, I worked in Saudi hoping to speed up my career and help my family. Being away was a struggle and homesickness was the enemy I fought each and every day.
In two years, reading “Our Daily Bread” become my routine to aid the heaviness I felt and it fills my heart’s emptiness. Prayer and my faith to God are my shield and weapon. It makes me stronger because I know I was never alone, God is with me to lift me up, to guide and protect me. “I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born” Isaiah 44:2a
December 2016, I came here in Abu Dhabi with a working visa. Being here was no accident, it was God’s plan. It is where He gave me the opportunity to know Him more thru the CLP. I was invited by my supervisor to attend the talk and decided to give it a try. I was a little hesitant at first because I am not into this kind of “activity.” But after the first talk I knew right there that it is what I waited all along. I found a family driven with God’s spirit, the path to where I should walk, to know Him more and my life’s purpose.
My CLP journey is clearly about knowing more of God’s words and wisdom. It changes my views and thoughts about life and brings me closer to Him. It makes me see clarity and peace over trouble, hope in misery and success over failure. Each and every day I know that God’s spirit is with me, He will never abandon me. I will always listen to His sweet voice, hear His words and feel His embrace.
In him alone will I trust, put my faith and surrender my everything.
May God be praised!
