Tongues: A Gift of the Holy Spirit By Sis. Desiree I. Torres

As preparation for the SFC Chapter B2 Talk 9: Receiving of the Holy Spirit, Our God made way to mold us purely prior to sending us in spiritual battle by providing us a Tongues Workshop, held last August 12, 2017, 8pm at Center 1, Al Safa Building, Najda Street conducted by Tita Lourdes.

As Christians we desire to experience Christ more in our life, every moment of it we long for HIM. One way to feel His presence in our life is allowing the Holy Spirit to work within us. There are 9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit subdivided in three category. First, are the Teaching Gifts which includes Wisdom and Word of Knowledge. Second, are the Sign Gifts which are Faith, Healing and Miracles. Third, are Revelational Gifts comprised of Pophecy, Discernment of Spirit, Tongues and Interpretation of Tongues. One of the most powerful manifestation of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues or known as GLOSSALIA, which we admit most of us is lacking. Speaking in tongues as explained by our speaker is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit where one speaks an unintelligible utterance or a language which one does not know and which one does not understand. Speaking in Tongues is important because it is a gift of the Holy Spirit, a gift of prayer and it helps build up the body of Christ. Personally, gift of tongues gives us a new dimension in prayer, it can revolutionize our prayer life, could build us, edifies us, and could have a transforming effect on one’s spiritual life. But how do we receive the Holy Spirit? First, we have to truly DESIRE for it. Second, we have to ASK for it in faith. Lastly, we have to yield and cooperate with God’s Spirit.

After understanding the true meaning of the Holy Spirit in our life as presented by Tita Lourdes, our God’s mouthpiece that evening, each of the participants was given the chance to discern for the Gift of Holy Spirit that they want to receive that night. In a prayer mode, a Tongues workshop followed right after the discussion. Still with the assistance of Tita Lourdes, together with our Couple Coordinators, Tito Rod and Tita Vicky, Chapter Heads and Unit Heads and the music ministry, all the participants with eagerness of hearts were led by God’s Holy Spirit. The once a simple room was filled with Holy Spirit’s radiance of light. As affirmed by those who witnessed, just us the praising and worshipping started, every participants were directed by the Holy Ghost through Tongues. There were utterances of unknown language, so strong that we just allowed ourselves to surrender in God. Pure tears upon surrendering to the workings of the Holy Spirit flows on our faces. We are overwhelmed as well with every messages of God that arose, messages like, “I Love you my Child”, “You are forgiven”, “Trust in Me” and more. Truly, it was an experience each of us will never forget. It is an affirmation that God’s love is and will always be around, we just have to feel it.

Many of us received the gift of tongues that night, Praise God for a victorious and blessed night, but we also know that everything does not end in that night. The gift of tongue will be more effective if we do practice it. Let’s allow ourselves to be confident in Christ, allow ourselves to be closer to God and speaking in tongues will always be a sanctified way.

“For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will only be talking to GOD, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Holy Spirit, but it will all be mysterious.” – 1 Corinthians 14:2.

For that may GOD be praised!

My CLP Experience Christian Life Program: Unbox Your Faith By Bro Joseph Fruto

“A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stamp, a god-shaped life is a flourishing tree”  -Proverbs 11:28   We are in the world where people give so much avidness to wealth, technology, trend, etc. At some point we forget to nourish our spiritual need. That is to live life with love, humility and gratitude. It may sound impossible to put into action but yes, it is possible with a great faith to God we can outshine the good and surmount the greatest challenge of being Christian and live life with meaning. Before I was invited to join the Christian Life Program (CLP), I know that there is God and I believe in Him. From a family that doesn’t religiously go to church we don’t see it as a duty of being a Christian. So long I don’t do detrimental things I am therefore a good Christian. At the age of 21 I tried my luck abroad, I worked in Saudi hoping to speed up my career and help my family. Being away was a struggle and homesickness was the enemy I fought each ...

Pray Over Workshop By Sis. Maricar Mandani

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.-Romans 8:26-27 How do we pray and how do we pray for others effectively? Most of us would like to pray for others, but to be honest we don't know how and what to pray. We are often filled with good intentions but without enough knowledge to utter, we tend to use the same phrases over and over or we fall into patterns, or sometimes we simply are not good in expressing with words. As part of our preparation for our CLP Talk 9- Receiving the power of the Holy Spirit- the much awaited session for every CLP. We had a PRAY OVER WORKSHOP, held last August 15, 2017. The teaching was led by Tita Lourdes, here we experienced and practiced a pray over session. Learned how to ...
